EJ Prescott Chooses Omnia Technologies
to Implement VoIP System

December 2005 — EJ Prescott, a premier distributor of water, sewer, natural gas and drain materials with about 325 employees spread across 28 locations, prides itself on providing customers and vendors with quality service and innovative technology through the creative talents and abilities of their employees.

EJ Prescott wanted to unite all of their locations together on one voice platform and VoIP seemed, from a conceptual level, to be a good fit for bringing their 28 locations together. However, they felt it was much too complex and expensive. A demonstration of the ShoreTel system put VoIP into a much different light. A pilot installation at their new office in Syracuse, New York proved that ShoreTel is everything it appears to be. The next step for EJ Prescott is to phase in the rest of their sites by the middle of 2006.

"When we decided to implement the ShoreTel system in our Syracuse office, we gave Omnia a two-day window to finish installing the cable, data, and phone system infrastructure,” recalls Dan Willette, IT Manager for EJ Prescott. “They completed the installation on time, and the network and phone system are running flawlessly."

The ShoreTel system gives EJ Prescott one distributed voice platform with a single system image and remote management. Things like changing call flows, moves, adds, and changes can now happen as quickly as someone can type on a keypad -- and they can happen from anywhere on EJ Prescott's network. "ShoreTel has truly taken the mystery out of VoIP," reports Willette.

"ShoreTel's distributed architecture lends itself to our multi-site environment and will make deploying the system to our other locations much simpler than we originally anticipated -- this will also significantly reduce our long-term deployment and system management costs," says Willette.

The users at EJ Prescott agree enthusiastically as they embrace ShoreTel's intuitiveness and its ability to help them become more productive and streamline their processes -- it is proving to be a boost to EJ Prescott's customer service bottom line.
